The Iredell Memorial volunteers presented a check to the hospital for $9,000 for the purchase of two arc trainers to be used in the hospital's accredited Cardiac Rehab Program. Cardiac Rehab has almost doubled in size with its recent expansion in the Outpatient Services Building.

“The extra space will accommodate new equipment and allow us to have more room for safe movement,” said Lisa Warren, RN, BSN, manager of Cardiac Rehab.  “The hospital volunteers donated money that enabled us to purchase two new arc trainers for our patients to use.”

Last year, Cardiac Rehab served 750 patients and next year they hope to serve 50 percent more. Additional hours have been added on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, 7:00 AM until noon, providing two additional classes on these days.  Medically supervised exercise will be expanded to Friday and Saturday.

As a result of the additional classes, Cardiac Rehab has added Kellie Kerley, RN and Beth Hall, exercise specialist, to their staff.

The expansion relocated a large storage area as well as The Birth Place Program offices to the Women’s Health Center.
“We are happy in our new space and feel it makes sense to be located here with other services for women,” said Pam Speight, RN, The Birth Place program nurse and Pampered Pregnancy coach at IHS.

Lactation consultation, mammography and bone density are also located in the Women’s Health Center.
